CDAP Or DMAP: A Quick Overview

The Canada Digital Adoption Program by the government of Canada helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopt new technologies that help them increase their competitiveness. Eligible businesses will receive a grant to build their digital plan, followed by a 0% interest loan of up to $100,000 to help them in the implementation process.

Your business is eligible for the application if:

The Digital Modernization and Adoption Plan is provided by the Ontario Center, and it’s particularly offered to Ontario-based SMEs. This is a government funding program to simplify the process of integrating new technologies into Canadian SMEs. Accepted businesses will receive up to $15,000 for the digital adoption plan development, followed by a $150,000 grant to implement their plan.

  • Be incorporated federally or provincially with a valid business number
  • Be a for-profit, privately owned business
  • Have 1-499 employees
  • Have a permanent establishment in Canada’s Ontario province
  • Have the ability, willingness, and resources to implement new technologies

For both streams, you can apply for digital adoption plan funding, which is up to $15,000 in total. Then, if you can prepare and develop an approved digital plan, you will be able to apply for implementation funding through BDC loans (CDAP) or OC grants (DMAP).

CDAP Or DMAP: What Businesses Can Benefit From These Programs?

Note that CDAP or DMAP is provided to small to medium-sized enterprises that are owned by Canadian owners.
Both programs have mandatory criteria, saying the eligible business should be a for-profit, has between 1-499 employees, and has at least $500k in annual revenue.

The main difference between these government funding programs is that DMAP is only available to Ontario-based businesses, while CDAP is available to all Canadian SMEs.
